The biggest news this week was about Yahoo suing Facebook over the use of its technology. From Yahoo’s perspective, the social media giant is using 10 of its patented technologies related to advertising, privacy, customization, messaging and social networking. Read the patents in plain “English” here. Whether or not these patents are of such great value is up for debate, and some claim this move may even harm Yahoo’s reputation.

The countdown is on – in 2 weeks today the migration of all pages to Facebook’s timeline happens. We have been quite busy here preparing clients for this change. 8 million pages changed in the first 10 days however, only 8 of the top 20 pages have migrated to the new style so far.

Pinterest will release new profile pages this week, expanding the number of things user can pin, including video meaning users can then pin directly from Vimeo, Hulu and Netflix. And if you wonder how brands are using Pinterest, this  might be helpful.
